President Robert Mugabe has met a group of five US congressmen and one member of the house of representatives at State House in Harare.
The congressmen delegation comprises senators; Jerry Flake of Arizona, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Benjamin Cardin of Maryland, Christopher Coons of Delaware and a member of the house of representatives, Adam Schiff of California.
Mugabe told the delegation that he is surprised as relations between Zimbabwe and the US government soured over a decade ago when the US agreed to get sucked in the Zimbabwe - Britain dispute over the land reform programme.
"Britain under Prime Minister Tony Blair reneged to honour the Lancaster House agreement which required that Britain should compensate the white farmers whose land would have been taken for resettlement of formerly marginalsed indigenous Zimbabweans," explained Mugabe.
