25 959 land mines recovered between Vic Falls and Mlibizi

The National Mine Clearance Squadron (NMC SQN) has since reportedly recovered 25 959 AP land mines between Victoria Falls and Mlibizi and they have been destroyed.
According to parliament Hansard a total of 220km stretch of land from Victoria Falls to Mlibizi was identified as minefield No. 1.
"The minefield was the second largest minefield in the country. This area had since been cleared by the National Mine Clearance Squadron (NMC SQN). A total of 25 959 AP mines were recovered from the minefield and destroyed. The land has since been reclaimed for economic utilization," reads the Hansard.
Most of the border areas of Zimbabwe were manifested with land mines which were planted by the colonial soldiers targeting the liberation war fighters. The land mines continue to affect communities around the borders with some having lost lives and limbs while some lose their livestock.
