THE court gallery was left shocked this week after a Dangamvura man revealed that his party-loving and heavy clubbing wife negligence had caused his child's death.
Manica Post reported that the shocker was revealed by Lovemore Mulila after he had been dragged to the civil courts by his estranged wife, Nomatter Nechiri, who was seeking the law's protection from her violent ex-husband.
Nechiri had told the court Mulila whom she had just separated with was a violent womaniser who was in the habit of abusing her and running after other women. She went on to reveal that she had thrown Mulila out of her Dangamvura house.
Nechiri also opted to be out of the Dangamvura house as she had since moved in with her parents in Palmerstone low-density suburb. "Since last week when I threw him out, I have been staying in Palmerstone with my parents.
"In fact, I only gave him back his clothes and locked my doors since those were the only things he came with when we got married," she boasted. However, Nechiri got more than what she had bargained for after Mulila revealed to the court that their first child had died because of her abuses as a mother.
He told the court that Nechiri was a heavy clubber who would not miss any opportunity to go to the bar despite being a mother of two children. "Your Worship, this woman frequents night clubs and leaves our two children locked inside the house unattended.
"At most times, I would come back from work at midnight and find the children alone, while she would be away clubbing. "In fact, my first child died as a result of the abuses since she would leave the child alone with no one to look after him. My neighbours would also complain about the abuses my children were suffering at her hands," he said.
Mulila confessed to assaulting and insulting Nechiri, but blamed it on her heavy clubbing.
He said he would assault her because she would have provoked him by going to the night clubs
Yeukai Chigodora granted the protection order to Nechiri.
