Polokwane (South Africa) - A 28-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 7-month-old stepdaughter to death with a broken beer bottle on a farm near Marble Hall, Limpopo police said on Friday.
Constable Lethunya Mmuroa said Abbey Moyo allegedly stabbed the baby and her mother after accusing her of having an affair with another man.
Moyo was arrested for murder and attempted murder and appeared in court on Monday, a few hours after he allegedly stabbed the two.
He will appear in the Groblersdal Magistrate's Court again on November 1 to apply for bail.
Mmuroa said Moyo chased the woman and baby away on Saturday. On Monday morning he found her at a compound on the same farm and stabbed her with a knife. She was recovering at Groblersdal Hospital.
"The child was certified dead on the scene after she was stabbed with a broken beer bottle."
Local residents who saw Moyo entering the compound called the police.
