Chihuri appeals for assistance

Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri has appealed to the corporate world and members of the public to assist surviving spouses and children of departed officers through donating to the ZRP Commissioner-General's Welfare Fund.
Chihuri made the appeal during the ZRP Commissioner General's Welfare Fund Dinner Dance to raise money for the upkeep of over 300 families of late police officers, ZBC News reported.
Guest of Honour at the dinner dance, Co-Minister of Home Affairs Kembo Mohadi applauded the Commissioner-General for coming up with the initiative.
Mohadi led by example and donated US$5 000 to the fund and a corporate casino license to run for 21 days.
The dinner dance will be followed by a horse race on the 22nd of this month.
The ZRP Commissioner-General's Welfare Fund was established in 1996 to help towards the educational requirements as well as the general upkeep of the families of deceased members of the force drawn from all the provinces.
