HAVING caught his youthful neighbour red-handed sleeping with one of her maids in the presence of her 12-year-old daughter, a Mutare woman approached the courts seeking protection.
Tafadzwa Nyagayi recently appeared at the Mutare magistrate's court praying for protection against her neighbour, Terence Nyapundo (21), whom she said was in the habit of sleeping with every maid she employs.
Nyagayi told the court that she caught Nyapundo in her house at the middle of the night which confirmed that they were having an affair with one of the maid.
She said: "Your Worship, I pray that this court intervenes because my neighbour's behaviour is worrisome. Nyapundo would come to my house and sleeps with every maid I employ. He would sleep with the maids on the same bed where my 12-year-old daughter would be sleeping. I am now afraid that he will also rape my daughter. One of my maids has already left because of failing to withstand his harassment."
She added that Nyapundo usually 'strikes' when she would be away.
"On February 15, he visited one of my maids not knowing that I was around. He entered the spare bedroom where the maid and my child were sleeping. I heard some noise and movements in the spare bedroom at around 1am. When I opened the door he quickly jumped off the bed and fled. He left his clothes. I have come with these clothes to this court as proof," Nyagayi said.
She added that Nyapundo would mock her through songs during the day and was now failing to complete the house she was constructing because of his actions. Nyapundo confirmed sleeping with every maid employed by Nyagayi, but disputed ever insulting her.
Mutare magistrate, Ms Venencia Mugota, expressed shock on Nyapundo's response.
"Your Worship, I visit them at their employer's place. Sometimes I invite the maids to my place at night because during the day I will be occupied with my plumbing duties," he said.
Ms Mugota asked Nyapundo if he was not ashamed of his behaviour.
"I am not ashamed of my behaviour because I will be enjoying my life. The maids are the one who should be ashamed," he said, much to the shock of the gallery.
Ms Mugota granted the order in favour of Nyagayi and advised her to make a police report of abusing the minor through exposing her to sex at a tender age.
