Beam benefits 29 849 students in Matabeleland North- Minister

Minister of Public Service, Labour and Siocial Services Priscillah Mupfumira has said 29 849 students from both primary and secondary schools in Matabalelend North were benefiting from the Basic Education Assistance Module (Beam).
Speaking in parliament Mupfumira said Beam programme is providing assistance to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in Matabeleland North Province, which are 565 primary schools and 156 secondary schools.
"For primary schools, a total of 23,350 children are supported and the breakdown is 11,775 boys and 11,575 girls who have benefitted from the programme," she said. "For secondary school, 6,499 children have been supported and the breakdown by gender is 3,176 boys and 3,323 girls. This brings the grand total of children on BEAM to 29,849."
