A member of the Zanu PF aligned Zimbabwe National Army, Imbizo Barracks allegedly stabbed his better half a number of times on the hand and later on the head threatening her with death.
The soldier ran amok on Saturday last week at the marriage quarters at Imbizo Barracks.
He is said to have left, Ms Martha Mpukuta (24), a general hand with ZDF, injured all over her hands and a deep cut at the centre of her heard.
Freddy Mlilo (31), a Corporal who stays at Number 16 Marriage Quarters reportedly arrived at his house in the evening and immediately went inside where he turned on the TV set and increased the volume.
He is said to have temporarily held hostage his wife hostage and plainly told her he wanted to kill her.
He then took a knife and pierced her once on the right hand.
Each and every time, Mlilo would allegedly remind Ms Mpukuta he wanted to kill her.
It is alleged that after stabbing her on the right hand, he sat on the bed and told her that he wanted to rest for a while before killing her.
Ms Mpukuta could not escape because the doors were locked.
He then allegedly drew a knife again and stabbed Mpukuta several times on the hands.
Mlilo then allegedly stabbed her on the head before letting her loose for a while.
He then told her he was taking another rest and wanted to sleep for a short while before killing her, upon which he lay on the bed and fell asleep with the knife by his side.
It is then that Ms Mpukuta managed to drag herself to the door, which she unlocked and escaped to make a report to the Military Police at the barracks.
Mlilo was yesterday dragged before Bulawayo magistrate Mrs Rosemary Dube to answer to a charge of attempted murder as defined in Section 189 as read with Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
He was remanded in custody to 19 October.
Ms Mpukuta, who was accompanied to court by her parents said she did not know why her husband stabbed her because he had arrived home and pounced on her telling her he wanted to kill her.
For the State, Mr Jeremiah Mutsindikwa told the court that the incident occurred at about 8.30pm.
After reporting to the Military Police, the court heard, the matter was then reported to the police leading to Mlilo's arrest.
