A MUTARE woman last week dragged her husband of 15 years to court for failing to cater for the luxurious lifestyle that she has been used to.
Manica Post reported that Winnie Mandaa accused Needmore Musikiri of being reluctant to provide for their four children like he used to do. She was praying for $300 maintenance for their four children aged 15, eight, four years and one year, respectively.
Yeukai Chigodora heard the case when Mandaa said Musikiri used to bring home more than $300, but was now failing to do so.
"Children are now failing to adjust because their father no longer brings money home. I don't know where he is putting all his earnings. I am only a vendor who gets $20 each month. It is not enough for the children's education, food, rentals and clothes," she said.
In response, Musikiri told the court that he was jobless, but his wife was failing to adjust to the new situation.
He offered to pay $25 per child.
"I am jobless and I only get $70 from part time jobs. There is nowhere I can get the $300 that she is talking about. I can only offer $25 per child to make a total of $100," said Musikiri.
Asked to explain how he will raise $100 when he gets only $70 each month, Musikiri left the court gallery in roars of laughter as he said: "I will borrow the remaining $30 from my neighbours every month."
However, Mandaa revealed before the court that Musikiri works at Khumbulani Investments.
Chigodora ordered the two to go to Khumbulani Investments and bring Musikiri's salary confirmation letter.
