RAINS are expected to continue across the country with some towns and cities likely to receive thundershowers, the Meteorological Services Department has said.

The rains are the fruit the national cloud seeding programme which was being carried out by the department since January.

"All areas are forecast to be partly cloudy and hot with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms with a bias over the central watershed," the Met Department said in a statement.

"It should be warm during the day but cool overnight with a chance of light morning rains in some places."

The department said the country should expect thundershowers in the northern region.

"An increase in thunderstorm activity is expected across the country.

"The rest of the country should be partly cloudy to cloudy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms.

"Isolated thunderstorms are expected across the country more confined to the northern provinces."

The department said the country's main city centres were expected to have scattered thunderstorms during the evenings.

"Partly cloudy conditions should persist in Mashonaland provinces, Matabeleland North, Bulawayo, Harare and north of Manicaland."

Since Sunday, some areas across the country have been receiving meaningful rains which have been forecast to continue.
