A diamonds activist Farai Maguwu has filed an urgent court application seeking the civil imprisonment of 4 Cabinet ministers for contempt of court if the State fails to release within 48 hours his confiscated property.
The property was confiscated at the Harare International Airport last month.
In his application, Maguwu is suing co-ministers of Home Affairs Theresa Makone and Kembo Mohadi, Transport, Communication and Infrastructure Development Minister Nicholas Goche, Minister of State for National Security Sydney Sekeramayi, the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe and the immigration department.
They are all accused of defying a High Court order to release forthwith the property.
Maguwu says the officials should be ordered to release the laptop, power pack, wallet, digital camera, $2 000, business cards, notebooks, laptop bag and other items within 48 hours, failure of which they should be jailed at Harare Central Prison.
The Government officials who were cited in their official capacities were yet to respond to the application through the Attorney General's Civil Division.
