TWO teenagers drowned in Mutare and Buhera districts last week.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, confirmed the two incidents and said the first one happened in Mpudzi Village under Chief Zimunya last Sunday.
He urged adults to discourage their children from going near dams and flooded rivers after heavy downpours.
Insp Kakohwa said: "A 13-year-old boy from Mpudzi was coming from school when he tried to have a short-cut home by swimming across Mpudzi Dam.
"During the process, the boy swam for about five meters and drowned."
In an unrelated incident that happened at Chiurwi Secondary School in Buhera, three teenagers decided to go and swim in Chadzire River after school last Friday, but unfortunately one of them drowned.
"Upon arrival, one of the three boys aged 13 dived into the water and drowned at once," said Insp Kakohwa.
