Harare Council descends on residents using homes for business

Harare City Council has said it is descending on residents who are using their homes for business.
Harare Residents Trust revealed that the council started the raids and has already raided eight suburbs.
"Harare City Council has descended on residential property owners who illegally converted their homes into business premises. Eight Suburbs where home owners have taken advantage of their proximity to town to turn their properties into offices, have been targeted by the City Council," said the trust.
"The City Council wants owners to regularize some operations by obtaining business licenses and paying the requisite rates. A Mr Chideme said the City Council is currently reviewing local development plans for Hillside, Belvedere, Milton Park, Alexandra Park, Avondale, Belgravia, Eastlea suburbs and the Avenues with a view of integrating different land uses to regularize some operations."
