A 56-YEAR-OLD man has demanded custody of his three-year-old son from his 25-year-old ex-wife after accusing her of engaging in sex with her boyfriend while the youngster watched.
Mpostoli Moyo, who stays in Natane area in Bulilima, said Sithembile Nkomo was living in a one roomed house with her boyfriend Phinias Ndebele and the three-year-old boy.
Moyo said Nkomo was not an ideal mother as she was exposing her son to an inappropriate environment that could affect him in future. "We've two children with my ex-wife, one is aged three and the other is five-years-old. The three-year-old is staying with her while our five-year-old daughter lives with me.
"She's now living with a boyfriend in a one roomed house together with my son. They perform all their sexual acts in the presence of my son and I'm worried it might affect him.
"That's why I'm seeking custody of the two youngsters because my wife isn't capable of bringing them up properly,'' said Moyo.
He said his wife deserted him and their two children last year and went to live with Ndebele.
Moyo said his wife later collected the two children during his absence and took their three-year-old son with her and left their daughter at a relative's homestead.
He said he had to collect their daughter and took her back home.
Nkomo said her husband's violent tendencies had forced her to move out of their homestead.
"I didn't desert my children or my husband. I left because he was abusive.
"A man can't look after such young children on his own. It's not true that I perform sexual acts in the presence of my three-year-old child. He is fabricating these lies just to portray me as a bad mother," she said.
Ruvetsa ordered the pair to return to court on April 5 (today) for trial.
Nkomo and Moyo got married customarily in 2009 and separated last year.
