Several followers of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries' founder, Prophet Walter Magaya have fallen victims to criminals masquerading as his agents in Botswana to obtain cash from them.

The Voice reported that Magaya commands a huge following from his native country Zimbabwe and the region.

Most of the con-artists have been taking advantage of his popularity with many of them going around collecting cash from the unsuspecting followers here in Botswana under the pretext that they are representatives of the ‘Man of God'.

Botswana Police Service (BPS) spokesperson, Senior Superintended Dipheko Motube confirmed the reports though he said no formal complaint has been laid against anyone.

"There are a lot of people going around duping people of their hard earned money calling themselves prophets and agents of a number of popular ‘Men of God," said Motube, saying Batswana should be on the lookout for such cheats.

During his last Friday evening service which was televised live from Zimbabwe's capital Harare, Magaya revealed that there are a number of people masquerading as his agents in Botswana and collecting money under the guise of PHD Ministries.

"What is happening in Botswana?" rhetorically asked Magaya during the live service, and added: "There are people going around in places like Palapye, Mahalapye and Gaborone purporting to be representatives of the PHD Ministries."

The popular televangelist said the con-men are collecting cash saying it's for the construction of a church building.

He however said his church does not send people to go around collecting money.

PHD Ministries is about to commence the construction of what its founder has termed the "biggest church building in the world."

The church building will also boast of different sports facilities.
