$800m missing from State coffers, says Cross

Tempers flared at a public hearing on the Public Finance Management Amendment and Special Economic Zones Bills in Mutare yesterday when Bulawayo South MP, Eddie Cross was blocked from revealing details of $800 million, which allegedly went missing from State coffers last year.

Participants attending the public hearing organized by the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Budget, Finance and Economic Development had raised concerns about the alleged non-accountability of money collected by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) traffic section and other public institutions.

Cross agreed with the concerned participants, while claiming that more than $800 million dollars from the statutory funds could not be accounted for.
