'I've no vendetta against Mnangagwa,' says Kasukuwere

ZANU-PF National Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere, has said he does not harbour any motive to have Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa removed from his position as he is his senior in both the party and government.
In an interview after meeting the Midlands provincial leadership in Gweru yesterday, Kasukuwere said the "fight or explosive turf war" between him and the VP was a figment of the private media's imagination.
Kasukuwere also said it had also been falsely reported in the Press that there was going to be a showdown between him and Mnangagwa at yesterday's meeting.
"VP Mnangagwa is my senior, in the party and the government. He's a Vice President of the country and I'm a minister.
"He's the second secretary in the party and I'm a political commissar. I respect him as my senior, my elder and the fight between us is a creation of the Press. We're okay," he said.
"What they write in the Press is all false meant to sell their papers. I've no ambitions to get to him or anything like that.
"We serve the ruling party and we want it to become strong as we approach 2018."
He said it was high time that the VP and himself sued some media houses for reckless reporting with regard to their relationship.
Kasukuwere also noted that it had been falsely reported that VP Mnangagwa was going to attend the PCC meeting.
"Do you see the VP here today? Did we fight here? No. The Press creates this," he said.
"I think it's high time we sued people who write lies. They're making money by making headlines to sell their papers using our names."
Kasukuwere was last week ordered by the ruling party's politburo to find a lasting solution to the problems in the Midlands province.
A few weeks ago, Kasukuwere announced the suspension of chairperson, Kizito Chivamba and that Tapiwa Matangaidze had replaced him as acting chairperson.
However, some cadres in the province said if the substantive chairperson is suspended, his deputy should, in terms of the party constitution, replace him in an acting capacity. They, therefore, rallied behind Daniel Mackenzie-Ncube, who deputised Chivamba.
