A Machanic has been charged for bashing his ex-wife and her boyfriend.
A Dangamvura gearbox mechanic was fined $60.
Manica Post reported that Kennedy Kamudhegu (37) of House Number 57, Area 7, Dangamvura was convicted on his own plea of guilty.
However, the fine was wholly suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in the next five yearsPresiding over the matter was senior Mutare magistrate, Sekai Chiundura, while Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.
The State heard that on April 4 at around 11pm, Kamudhegu's ex-wife, Matilda Kanjanda, who resides at the same house with Kamudhegu in Dangamvura and is employed as a caterer at Nyamanhete Restaurant in Mutare went to bed with her new boyfriend, Benjamin Mazonde.
At around 2am, Kamudhegu knocked at his house and no-one responded. When he opened the door, Mazonde dashed out of the house together with Kanjanda. A fight later broke out between the two parties.
Kamudhegu took Mazonde's cellphone and his money.
He looked for his ex-wife at a neighbour's house where he ended up breaking a door.
Asked why he committed the offence, Kamudhegu told the court he could not stomach seeing his ex-wife in the arms of another man.
"Your Worship, Kanjanda is my wife whom I stay with. She has referred me as ex-boyfriend in her papers, but we are still residing at the same place and as husband and wife. I have two children with her and after I knocked at the door and failed to get any response I broke the door and entered. I was hurt to find my wife cheating on me in our matrimonial home. I have given her back her cellphone, but I only went through her conversations to see who she was chatting with," he said.
