Mutare woman arrested for possession of illegal drugs

A Mutare woman has been arrested for possession of illegal drugs.
Manica Post reported that Cynthia Kariwo of House Number 2926, Chikanga 2, pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing unregistered drugs as defined in section (29)(1) (a) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act, Chapter 15:9.
Kariwo was arrested on March 31 after police detectives received a tip-off that she was in possession of unregistered drugs.
Detectives searched her and recovered two Appetito pills, two Betasol lotion, three Epiderm cream and two Deprisona cream.
Asked why she committed the offence, Kariwo said she was trying to earn a living.
"I erred Your Worship. I wanted to start a business so that I can earn a living."
Chiundura sentenced her to pay a fine of $50 or risk being incarcerated for 30 days if she fails to pay by April 27.
