ZimFirst leader Maxwell Shumba has said if the people of Zimbabwe put his party into power as government it will continue to celebrate the independence day as it has totally nothing to do with Zanu PF but with the people's freedom from colonial rule.
"When the people of Zimbabwe will give us the mandate to run the country as ZimFirst we shall continue to celebrate this important day of our history 18 April," he said. "It has totally nothing to do with Zanu PF it is our right as Zimbabweans. The biggest lie that Zanu PF has told our people is the assumption of ownership of things that rightfully belong to the citizens."
He said over the years Zanu PF has worked on the minds of Zimbabweans by trademarking Zimbabwe as Zanu and the likes of ambuya Nehanda all who never knew or heard about Zanu PF are now taken as if they died having Zanu PF cards.
"Let us not be robbed of our rights, Independence was achieved through the efforts of all dedicated Zimbabweans is ours. But like the sons of Israel by the rivers of Babylon how can we sing a song when we are in captivity this time by our own kind a non repentant Dictator surrounded by looters and murderers, oppressors and robbers of people's rights," he said.
