Former ZBC presenter Eric Knight has said while Zimbabwe has attained 36 of independence from colonial rule, people still need to emancipate themselves from self inflicted slavery.

Zimbabwe celebrated independence on April 18 where President Robert Mugabe claimed that people were enjoying self determination much to the chagrin of millions of nationals who are living under adjective poverty due to failed governance of Zanu PF.

"As my Zimbabwe marks 36 years of emancipation from colonial rule, what is left is total emancipation from self inflicted economic slavery. I pray that may God the Almighty heal this wondrous nation, appoint and anoint leadership that will be for the people, to the people and by the people," Knight said. "My country will then soar like an eagle. An eagle that never scrounges nor eats dead meat. An eagle that relies on its vision, power to sustain itself."

He said an eagle that only feeds on fresh meat it works hard to get, not relying on donations.

"An eagle that never starves its own chicks. God bless Zimbabwe! God bless Africa!" he said.
