GRAMMY Award winning American gospel superstar Kirk Franklin will perform in Zimbabwe on December 4, he says in a video released on Friday.
In the 34-second video, Franklin tells fans he is "coming back home".
He says: "All God's people, this is your man Kirk Franklin. All my brothers and sisters I'm coming back home. December 4th, Zimbabwe, that's right… Kirk Franklin and the whole crew, the whole band, that's right, all the singers… no tracks, real live music in Zimbabwe... I will be there!"
Ireland-based music promoters, Gospel Music Ireland (GMI), are behind the tour.
Chimbganda added: "We have worked with Franklin here in Ireland and we had discussions about doing a tour of Zimbabwe which he is excited to be doing."
The gig will be held in Harare at the Glamis Arenas and talks are currently underway to possibly incorporate local stars such as Charles Charamba.
Franklin is known worldwide for his outstanding achievements in breaking new ground for Gospel music and playing modern melodies in the face of stiff resistance from conservative Christian groups who for the years between 1997 – 2000 viewed him as a rebel Gospel musician. During this time he came onto the international scene with his dance floor song 'Stomp'.
