Zanu-PF Politburo member, Patrick Chinamasa has called for unity of purpose in Manicaland province and for party members to focus on 2018 elections under the leadership of President Robert Mugabe.

The Zanu-PF Manicaland provincial leadership held an Extra Ordinary Provincial Co-Ordination Committee meeting in Mutare, where party members denounced divisions and factionalism.

"We have already endorsed the First Secretary of Zanu-PF, Mugabe as the sole presidential candidate come 2018 elections, so there is need for all of us to unite behind him, and start preparations for the polls now," said Chinamasa.

Zanu-PF Manicaland Provincial Chairman, Dr Samuel Undenge said the revolutionary party is gaining more grassroot support and that it is emerging stronger due to the on-going mobilisation strategies being implemented.

The Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Mandi Chimene noted that food aid distribution was going on smoothly in all the districts, reaffirming President Mugabe's assurance to the nation that no one will die of hunger.

At the same meeting, the provincial leadership congratulated Letinah Undenge following her recent elevation to the position of National Secretary for Administration in the Women's League, amid singing and ululation.

The provincial leadership will next month begin to hold inter-district meetings to bring the grassroots and the party leadership together as well briefing them about programmes and developments within the party.
