Security guard shoots boss' ex-wife dead

A security guard seconded to Guardian Security Services chief executive's ex-wife's residence allegedly gunned her down following a minor dispute arising between him and the woman.
A family spokesperson, Mr Archie Shumba, confirmed the incident which occurred over the weekend at No. 92, Rhodesville Avenue, Greendale, in Harare, and said it was regret- table.
Police also confirmed the shooting and said investigations were in progress.
It is alleged that on the night in question, Ms Chiedza Nera-Rambanapasi cautioned the guard, Phillimon Chigwada, over his conduct with regard to his relations with other employees while on duty, which did not go down well with the guard.
"Chigwada was cautioned in the presence of Ms Nera-Rambanapasi's two domestic workers, Memory Mahari and another one only identified as Brian. Incensed by the cautioning, we heard that Chigwada ordered the two domestic workers out of the room. He closed the door before opening fire on the defenceless Ms Nera-Rambanapasi. Chigwada shot her in the head and she died on the spot.
"Chigwada later turned on fire on the domestic worker who tried to save Ms Nera-Rambanapasi and shot her on the chin. The gardener survived by scaling over the precast wall and managed to raise the alarm," said Mr Shumba.
He said the guard was arrested and was assisting police with investigations.
Mr Shumba said Memory was admitted at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where she is recuperating.
"The incident is regrettable, and as a family we are still to come to terms with this tragedy that we least expected. We do not know the motive behind Chigwada's actions, and we want police to get to the bottom of this matter.
"We want to express our deepest condolences to both the Nera and Rambanapasi families on the sad loss of their beloved one.
"As Guardian Security, we will also give the law enforcement agents the necessary assistance in their investigations, and we want to assure our clients and the public that the situation is under con- trol.
"We will furnish them with all the details as investigations continue," he said.
