Karoi Town Council is next month set to parcel out a total of 2 600 residential stands, a move that will significantly change the face of the town and reduce pressure for accommodation by home seekers.

Two new suburbs  are going to emerge soon in Karoi, with 2 300 high density and 300 low density residential stands by May.

Karoi Town Council Chairman, Councillor Richard Ziki, said the new housing schemes are set to be established at Peter Groot and Brooks Farms.

The local authority is also involved in a build, operate and transfer partnership deal with a fuel company, Power Fuels,  in the construction of a US$700 000 truck inn and construction is already underway.

Meanwhile, the local authority has revealed that it will soon begin attaching bad debtors' property to recover over US$ 2,6 million that it is owed by rate payers and residents.

Karoi Town Council Finance Director, Mr Wellington Mutikani, said successful recovery of the debt may see the local authority being able to offset its salary arrears which stand at around US$200 000.
