The Harare City Council has ordered that Mr James Mushore, who had been appointed as town clerk should not report for duty until the court case on his fate is completed.
Harare City Council spokesperson, Mr Michael Chideme who briefed journalists after a closed door meeting at Town House says the only option they have is to await the decision of the courts on the matter.
Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Saviour Kasukuwere rescinded Mushore's appointment citing the flouting of Section 132 (1) of the Urban Councils Act which states that council may not appoint a town clerk without consulting the Local Government Board.
Mr Mushore's case has also led to the suspension of Councillor Bernard Manyenyeni who has been relieved of his duties as councillor and mayor with Chris Mbanga appointed in an acting capacity.
