Flag protest pastor receives death threats

A local cleric, who days after Independence Day celebrations posted a protest rant that concentrated on the national flag depicting government failure, has been threatened with death.

Evan Mawarire (39), who has become an instant social media hit with #thisFlag attracting over 17 000 hits to his videos, on Wednesday said that unknown people had threatened him.

In one of the videos, Mawarire says he feels Zimbabwe has become a stumbling block to his dreams and ambitions, but finds success when he travels abroad.

Mawarire confirmed he was now living in fear due to the threats.
