ZEC to use most effective and sustainable way in voter registration

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) will use the most effective and sustainable way in voter registration ahead of the 2018 general elections.
This came out as the commission held an all stakeholders workshop in the capital to brief the citizens on the progress made in coming up with a voter registration process which is efficient and affordable.
ZEC chairperson Justice Rita Makarau says availability of resources will determine the type of voter registration to be implemented.
She said the commission has conducted researches in other countries and appreciated a number of methods used.
ZEC chief elections officer Mrs Constance Chigwamba made presentations on various methods, their advantages and disadvantages.
These include manual, the electronic, the biometric with facial image and biometric with face and fingerprints voter registration.
It has been established that ZEC need to come up with a new voters roll that will be continuously updated.
The organisation has been carrying out manual voter registration but has come up with 4 other options that can be implemented.
