Chinamasa, Mupfumira clash

The Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Priscilla Mupfumira has dismissed a plan by Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa to put NSSA under the Insurance and Pensions Commission.

Chinamasa wanted NSSA to fall under IPEC, a move which he said would improve transparency and accountability at the compulsory pension fund.

The idea angered trade unionists who said the move would be against international best practices.

Chinamasa's proposal entailed taking NSSA away from the Labour ministry to the Finance ministry, which houses IPEC. Mupfumira said she had personally stopped the move.
