Chiyangwa has been re-admitted into Zanu-PF

FLAMBOYANT businessman and philanthropist, former Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman, Phillip Chiyangwa has been re-admitted into the party.
The Zanu-PF Politburo, the supreme decision-making body outside congress, also cleared deposed provincial chairman John Mafa to stand for any position in the provincial structures.
However, the Politburo referred back to the national disciplinary committee, Jimayi Muduvuri's case after he was charged with bringing the name of the party into disrepute.
Speaking after the Politburo meeting at the Zanu-PF headquarters in Harare yesterday, party spokesperson Rugare Gumbo said Chiyangwa bounces back into the party as an ordinary member.
"On the Chiyangwa issue we have agreed that he comes back as an ordinary member until such a time he is cleared . . . the Politburo has made a decision (that he would not contest any party position)," he said.
The former Chinhoyi legislator had been touted as a possible candidate for the vacant provincial chairmanship.
Chiyangwa has also been linked to contesting the Chinhoyi seat on the Zanu-PF ticket.
However candidates are drawn from party structures, especially at provincial and district level.
On Mafa, the party spokesperson said: "The Politburo discovered that he did not commit serious crimes but was guilty of failing to tell the truth."
Gumbo said the Politburo resolved that Mafa could stand fin any future elections in the province.
He said the party also discovered that Muduvuri was facing serious allegations, among them participating in the launch of the Mavambo/-Khusile/Dawn activities and interfering in other provinces' activities.
"He was accused of hosting the launch of Mavambo at his Kadoma home and interfering in other provinces especially in the Midlands province," he said.
Gumbo said the matter had been referred to the disciplinary committee because the determination was inconclusive.
The party spokesperson said the Politburo also discussed the constitution-making process and was happy with the progress made.
