Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa has said the 5% bond incentives will be targeting the  producers who are producing for exports  not the middle people as has been the perception.

Chinamasa was responding to questions asked by a Harare Zanu PF MP Terence Mukupe in parliament.

"My question is directed to the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Chinamasa.  I am seeking to get policy clarification on the 5% bond incentive scheme/" he asked. "I would want to ask the Minister that the 5% incentive scheme, is it going to the final traders of the goods that have been exported out of the country?  Is the 5% incentive scheme going to go to the producers of the goods that are going to be exported?"

In response Chinamasa said the MP was seeking clarification on the measures announced by the Central Bank Governor with respect of the 5% incentive.

"The short answer is that, we are targeting producers who are producing for exports, not middle people.  So, in this regard, I can, as an example, we are talking of the gold miners; tobacco farmers; those who are going to earn foreign currency for this country will stand to benefit from the 5% incentive," he said.
