The National Peace and Reconciliation Commission will play a critical role in coordinating peace building initiatives, uniting the people and making sure that the national security is not comprised at any cost by opposition parties driven by western regime change agenda.

This was said by Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko during a lecture at the National Defence College.

Mphoko told security forces attending a lecture that national security is the pillar of any country which should never be tempered with.

He challenged army officers to make contributions in peace processes and such efforts being made by the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission to resolve conflicts.

"Important lessons should be drawn from President Robert Mugabe who is on record for promoting a policy on national healing, peace and reconciliation since that attainment of independence," Cde Mphoko said.

He cited tribalism, politics, hunger, mistrust amongst people, economic issues and colonisation as common factors and threats to national security.
