Gutu strikes back at Mugabe

The Morgan Tsvangirai-led MDC has lashed out at President Robert Mugabe after telling his supporters at a Zanu PF rally in Gutu last week that opposition parties would lose the 2018 presidential poll because they were devoid of any ideology.
A fuming MDC spokesperson Obert Gutu yesterday came out guns blazing, describing Mugabe's remarks as "senseless".
"… Mugabe is not a young man anymore and we really have to sympathise with him when he says something very childish and senseless like that," Gutu told the Daily News.
"At a very advanced age of 92, Mugabe tends to speak and sometimes, even think and behave like a toddler."
Gutu said Mugabe is clueless and he has nothing to speak at his rallies insisting that the MDC remains the most popular party in the country.
"We are a social democratic political party that fervently believes in and indeed, upholds the rights of all Zimbabweans, regardless of race, colour or creed, to work for the development of their country."
He added: "Mugabe ... is one of the major reasons why over the past 36 years, his insipidly corrupt and clueless Zanu PF regime has trashed and run down a country that was once the jewel of Africa."
Last Friday, Mugabe said all opposition parties will be shocked in the 2018 general election.
"We have ideology as Zanu PF, something that the opposition parties do not have, whether it's MDC-T, MDC-N, or MDC, whether its Makoni's party or that small party that calls itself People First, what is People First?" Mugabe said in a mocking tone.
The nonagenarian also claimed that opposition parties want to return land to whites if they win the 2018 elections.
