Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to visit Zimbabwe in July to thank President Mugabe for his support for the liberation of his country.

President Mugabe has been consistent in his calls for the liberation of Palestine whose territories are occupied by Israel.

President Abbas told a parliamentary delegation led by chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs, Kindness Paradza, visiting Palestine that his country was grateful for President Mugabe's stance against Israeli occupation.

Other members making up the delegation are Zanu-PF MP for Hurungwe North, Rueben Marumahoko and MDC legislator for Matabeleland South, Mrs Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga.

In an interview with The Herald from Ramallah, Paradza said they were there for a five-day exchange visit to the Palestinian Legislative Council.

"Yesterday (Monday) we met Palestinian leader President Mahmoud Abbas at his offices in Ramallah where he thanked Zimbabwe, through President Robert Mugabe, for standing firm in supporting the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation," said Paradza.
