A young woman hauled her biological mother to court accusing her of trying to initiate her into prostitution.

Annie Makomo alleged that her mother was also abusive in different ways.

"My mother physically abuses me whenever she gets a chance. She also insults me in front of people and this is hurtful. She chased me away from home and called all my relatives not to take me in. When I met her this year in February she grabbed me by the collar and assaulted me.

"She told me that I should leave my husband and start prostitution. When she was assaulting me she said she was going to continue doing so until I left my husband. She said failure to walk away from my marriage would result in the continued sourness of our relationship.

"I tried going to the police public relations department for help but she refused to cooperate which is what she did when we tried to get counseling from relatives. I am in a very difficult position right now because she is always on my case. My mother-in-law and my husband had to approach the court for a peace order against her because she harasses them too.

"I love my mother but she hates me so much that I am failing to understand why she wants me to be unmarried. I just want the harassments to stop so that we may live in peace," she said.

Viola Makomo, who could not stomach the allegations leveled against her by her own daughter, broke down and fainted after she gave part of her side of the story.

"She is my daughter and she is lying. She has hated me with a passion because since 2011 when I reprimanded her against concentrating on boys rather than school. She then eloped and I was against the marriage.

"Her husband came with US$20 as "tsvakirai kuno" . She gangs up on me with her in-laws and husband. I have scars on my hands that I got after they assaulted me. I even moved from where I was staying to Highfield because I was afraid of what they would do to me.

"It has been six years since I spoke to her. Yes it is true that I met her and greeted her but I was just concerned about her well being, I did not attack her," she said.

The court postponed the matter to next week Tuesday after Viola started crying and then fainted before she could finish defending herself.
