Mwayera bus accident
23 May 2016 at 13:11hrs | Views
A Mwayera bus travelling from Birchenough Bridge to Harare overturned today just before Muzokomba Business Centre.
According to sources who witnessed the incident the brakes failed and the bus backtracked for about a kilometre before overturning twice landing on the off side (left side) thereby trapping passengers who had to break windows to escape.
For the distance it backtracked the driver was struggling to keep the bus on the road.
The road is dusty and therefore bumpy. Since the road is sloppy on that area the bus gathered momentum as it backtracked causing the driver to finally lose control of the bus.
There were no serious injuries except the conductor who was crushed by a gearbox which was in the bus. He was rushed to Birchenough Bridge Hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
