Heal Zimbabwe Trust in collaboration with Edzai Isu Theatre Arts Project focusing on the National Healing and Reconciliation process, organized a play at Zimbabwe Hall in Highfields, Harare.

The trust said the play brought different theatrical actors to highlight the historical progression of episodes of human rights violations in Zimbabwe that need to be addressed through varying national healing and reconciliation processes. Some of the issues that were showcased include violations that were perpetrated during the pre-colonial period, Gukurahundi, land reform, Murambatsvina and the 2002, 2005 and 2008 electoral violence.

"In addition, the play highlighted the onerous task that lies ahead for the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) if it is to achieve true and meaningful healing and reconciliation in Zimbabwe. It is clear that for an effective healing and reconciliation process to take place, the NPRC must be independent and free from political manipulation from the politicians and other wielders of power who can influence the Commission's activities," said Heal Zimbabwe.

"Further through the play, it can be noted that the role played by the church in healing and reconciliation issues should not be underestimated since it is a major proponent of healing and reconciliation as evidenced by its doctrine that highlight  issues of forgiveness as well cultivating a culture of love and oneness."

The trust said the play is part of a HZT National Healing and Reconciliation Campaign aimed at raising awareness on the proposed National Healing and Reconciliation framework highlighting the need for a genuine healing and reconciliation process in Zimbabwe.

"The play will also be premiering at Theatre in the Park on Friday 27 and Saturday 28th of May 2016 from 18:00hrs.The play is open to all members of the public and admission is free," said the trust.
