FOLLOWING Prophet Walter Magaya's visit to Nigeria last week, the prophet has dismissed claims that he visited the country to acquire spiritual powers.

There is wide speculation that some of the young pastors and prophets are flocking to their West African "spiritual fathers" to get powers to perform miracles.

The Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries leader said Prophet TB Joshua does "impartation" which allows him to exercise the same "anointing demonstrated" by the Nigerian pastor.

Responding to questions from journalists in Harare last week, Prophet Magaya said he visited his "spiritual father" Prophet TB Joshua to seek mentorship on how to run the ministry and hold church crusades, among other issues.

The issue of spiritual fathers has long been contentious in Zimbabwe with traditional churches questioning whether the new phenomena is rooted in the scriptures or not.

"I go to Nigeria to learn how my father (Prophet TB Joshua) does his things. What can I learn from an ordinary man in Zimbabwe who has never gathered a single person for a crusade? I seek guidance and advice from Prophet TB Joshua who has filled stadiums in Mexico and Australia.

''One can learn lot from those who have been in the game for longer. For instance, when I met Prophet Makandiwa, I got about six sermons," said Prophet Magaya.

Journalists also quizzed the PHD leader on his wife Mrs Tendai Magaya who recently made headlines after performing miracles during a church service. He said what she did was out of impartation.

Prophet Magaya said impartation could happen by laying of hands or interacting with an anointed person, adding that if one performs a miracle, it does not mean they become a prophet or prophetess.

"Mrs Magaya is not yet a prophetess, one can perform miracles or give prophecies but that doesn't qualify him or her to be a prophet or prophetess. As of now, my wife is still Mama Magaya," he explained.
