Murder victims family turns down compensation

THE family of three children who were axed to death by a "stranger" last week in Zaka's Ndanga area has turned down compensation of 10 beasts offered by the assailant's relatives, it has emerged.
Early this month a "stranger", Munyaradzi Kudzidzvara of Gonovi Village under Chief Chikwanda travelled for close to 60 kilometres to Ernest Dzinorumwa's homestead in Zimhungu Village in the early hours of the night where he allegedly struck Ernest's wife Angela Kwangwari leaving her badly injured before killing their minor children, two-year-old Loina, four-year old Margret, and eight-year-old Lettecia in the same manner for unknown reasons.
Ernest's father Mr William Dzinorumwa (65) told the Sunday News that the family could not accept the 10 beasts the Kudzidzvara family offered adding that it will be upon the courts and God to rule on the matter.
"We are told Kudzidzvara has previous murder cases and his family is yet to completely appease the avenging spirits and they have also paid some beasts as compensation to the victims. No one has come to us officially but the family has sent some emissaries with the message and we did not accept their offer, let God rule," said Mr Dzinorumwa.
"If ever Kudzidzvara has a family, as many mourners testified last week, they could have come and been part of the mourners but no one came. God will make a verdict and what we want is justice at the courts because we confidently believe that Kudzidzvara is not mentally retarded as claimed by others."
He said while they were in pain because of the untimely tragedy which has left Ernest lonely, the family has embraced what has happened and will not demand anything from the alleged murderer's family.
