CONTROVERSIAL former Zanu-PF central committee member and businessman, Jimaya Muduvuri yesterday escaped death by a whisker when his car was involved in an accident while on his way to Masvingo to "address" factionalism in the province.

Muduvuri has been moving all over the country reportedly on behalf of Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa telling Zanu-PF members that the VP has no intention to topple President Robert Mugabe.

The Zanu-PF activist yesterday confirmed the accident. Muduvuri said he continued with his journey after the accident and addressed party members in Masvingo on factionalism.

He said the accident happened near Mvuma and caused extensive damage to his vehicle.

"I don't understand what happened. I just saw myself at a bridge after we tried to evade a head-on collision with a truck," Muduvuri said.

"I told the meeting in Masvingo that I nearly died, but I also said we no longer want to see these G40 and Team Lacoste factions."

He added: "I am done with the meeting in Masvingo and now going to see a doctor. I am now in pain. I addressed the meeting, but now I can't stand it [the pain]anymore. I am in pain."

Muduvuri, who was initially linked to the G40 faction reportedly loyal to First Lady Grace Mugabe, was recently hauled before the Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial disciplinary committee to answer to charges that he was campaigning for Mnangagwa's Team Lacoste faction.
