Woman caught raping 12-year-old nephew 'she inherited from husband'

A woman from Kofi Village, Zvishavane, Zimbabwe, has claimed that she slept with her husband's 12-year-old nephew after being directed to do so by her husband.

The 21-year-old woman was arrested and hauled before a magistrate who sent her to prison for six months.

She pleaded guilty to the charge and claimed: "Your Worship, before my husband left for his gold panning activities, he told me that I could inherit his 12–year-old nephew.

"He said the nephew could inherit me and take over his role as my husband until he comes back, so we were only following that directive."

The woman was caught by the young boy's mother as she sexually abused him in her bedroom hut. She reported the matter to the police.

In passing sentence, the magistrate said the woman had lured the young boy to have s.ex with her and for that she should be punished.
