The government has paid school fees for over 15 000 children of the war veterans across the country with the processing of fees for the remaining 7000 children expected to be completed in two weeks time.

The Minister of War Veterans, War Collaborators, Ex-Political Detainees and Restrictees, Tshinga Dube confirmed the development.

"The government has so far paid school fees for over 15 000 children of the ex-combatants out of the 22 000 who were vetted. We as government are however facing some challenges as all the children have to go through thorough assessment while accessing swift bank codes. The whole process was a hassle for those pursuing their studies overseas," said Cde Dube.

The payment of schools fees for children of war veterans follows President Robert Mugabe's promise during the war veterans conference that government will do its best to cater for the welfare of the freedom fighters.
