The Tendai Biti led People's Democratic Party has said Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere is not qualified to investigate alleged corruption in the Bulawayo City council considering the fact that he is equally corrupt.
PDP Bulawayo spokesperson Fortune Mlalazi said contrary to media reports that the PDP called on Kasukuwere to dissolve the council, the proper and correct position by the provincial council held on the 25th of May 2016 is that there is rampant corruption by some councillors and urgent action is needed.
"The provincial council stated clearly that the minister of local government is not the right person to handle the matters of corruption as he is worst corrupt therefore has no moral ground to deal with such a matter as this will result in him pushing a Zanu PF agenda of appointing a commission mainly of Zanu PF activists," he said. "On the way forward they were various proposed positions and the PC agreed to debate and consult other players who include the civic society and Residents associations."
Kasukuwere sent a seven man commission to investigate the BCC after allegations that Councillors were corruptly acquiring land at the expense of the residents.
