The Zimbabwe National Road Authority (ZINARA) is funding the roads patching in Bulawayo a development which has seen community groups being formed to do the job and get paid by the authority.
Latest council report states that community groups had been engaged to carry out drain/ median cleaning and pothole patching within the City.
"The groups would be paid with funds from Zinara. Zinara had further released funds to purchase materials to carry out overlays. Zinara had requested that Council overlays the parking area in front of the Trade Fair and Hillside road from 14th Avenue to 23rd Avenue with Zinara funding materials," reads the report.
"As part of their social responsibility Zinara had requested Council to overlay the road leading to Central Hospital from Gwanda road to the Hospital and the roads inside Mpilo Hospital at no cost to Council. The works would be carried out during weekends with Zinara paying overtime so as not to interrupt council activities."
