Zimbabwean students on government scholarship in Egypt and Algeria are struggling to survive and accused the government of dumping them in the foreign lands.

The students have revealed they are eking out a living after a 3yrs stipend drought crafted by the ministry of high and tertiary education.

"Most of the students on these government scholarships are from disadvantaged families regardless of political backgrounds and majority of students agreed to the scholarship offer after the ministry promised to cater for our day to day living in the foreign lands through the $3000 stipend per annum for each student," revealed a student.

"We have contacted the Embassy officials here to convey the message back home but all was fruitless. The student attache, Mharapara based in Algeria failed to provide a lasting solution to our financial crisis since most decisions are made back home."

The student said most students are studying pharmacy, medicine, engineering, dentistry and computer science which will go a long way in turning around the economy but seems we are being sabotaged by our own government though patriotic.

"The ministry of high and Tertiary education is still sending new students  abroad for these scholarships as well as funding programs like STEM though claiming to be insolvent," said the student.

"I just read an article by NewsDay where the deputy Minister of High and Tertiary Education,Dr Godfrey Gandawa claimed to have already disbursed the stipends to us which are all lies. In an abstract I am begging the Ministry of High and Tertiary Education headed by Prof Jonathan Moyo to bail us out at least for humanitarian reasons."
