Harare Residents Trust has claimed that some legislators who are believed to have diverted the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) have since become land barons who are dishing out land to unsuspecting home seekers.

The trust said reports we have received claim that some of the 2008-2013 MPs who looted Constituency Development Funds (CDF) have become land barons, and have actually accumulated a substantial number of residential stands in areas like Chitungwiza, Hopley and Hatcliffe.

"It is important to the citizenry to demand that these MPs who benefited from the CDF should fully account for the money allocated to them through the Treasury for community development projects," said the trust.

"The Member of Parliament was the Chairperson of the CDF and the Councillors under the MP's constituency were members of the Constituency Development Committee. Unfortunately, these funds have been lost, with some MPs still roaming free claiming to be defending the rights of citizens and speaking about Government's corruption."

Government between year 2005 and now had been giving the CDF to MPs for the development projects in their constituencies but most of the MPs reportedly did not account on how they utilised the money.
