An angry wife whose husband had not been paid for three months by his employers, Musasiwa Bus Company, vented her fury at a senior company boss.
The woman, Tariro Matangira, 44, was so incensed that she confronted the boss, Steven Musasiwa, 30, and grabbed his privates and yanked it in full view of other workers.
She was particularly angry because she accused her husband of not having the courage to demand his pay. Tariro from Highfield was arrested and dragged to court. She pleaded guilty to charges of indecent assault.
She was convicted on her own plea when she appeared before magistrate Brighton Pabwe. She however escaped jail after her three-month jail term was wholly suspended for three years on condition that she does not commit a similar offence during that period. Tariro however, told the court that she was angry at the way Steven had treated her husband.
"I was very angry Your Worship. I wanted to die because my husband has not been paid for three months," she said. She further told the court that she was also trying to defend herself from the violent Steven. "I was trying to defend myself since he is the one who pushed me and I pulled his privates," she added.
Prosecutor Tungamirayi told the court that on November 1 at around 4pm, Tariro went to her husband Godfrey Gumbu's workplace at Musasiwa Bus Company.
Upon arrival at the premises she began to shout at her husband for his inability to demand his salary from his boss. She scolded him in front of other workers. It is the State's case that Steven then arrived at the scene and came out of his car and asked Tariro why she was acting in that manner. At the same time Tariro then picked up a stone intending to hit him with it.
The two engaged in a fist-fight and Tariro then got hold of Steven's privates and pulled them. The struggle lasted for just a few minutes before Steven called for help only to be rescued by Godfrey. The offence was reported to the police leading to Tariro's arrest.
