Police are investigating a suspected Harare man who allegedly posed as a soldier and is believed to have sexually abused children and took them pictures which have since gone viral on social media.
Disturbing images of child sexual molestation currently circulating on the social media have led the police to conduct extensive investigations to look into the matter.
ZRP national spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the police are carrying out investigations in light of the accusations.
"The police in partnership with the ZNA is combining efforts to establish full facts so as to effect an arrest," she said.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba has also appealed to the public to assist the police with investigations.
"The ZNA has confirmed that the man is a bogus soldier who was putting on mixed dressing," added Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba.
Members of the public have been urged to help the police in identifying both the children and the man at the centre of the controversy.
Any information which may prove useful should be supplied to ZRP complaints desk on 04-703631 and Harare operations on 04-748836 or any nearest police station.
