THE Zimbabwe Defence Forces will not entertain any talk of security sector reform in Zimbabwe

being advocated by MDC-T,  Chief of Staff General Staff at Army Headquarters Major General Martin Chedondo said yesterday.

Speaking at the 28th anniversary of the Presidential Guard at Two Presidential Guard Batallion in Harare yesterday, Maj Gen Chedondo said the idea of security sector reforms was being pushed by former Rhodesians who lost to Zanu and PF Zapu in the battlefield during the liberation struggle.

He said Rhodesians had regrouped and were now using the MDC-T as their Trojan Horse in a bid to reverse the gains of Independence.

"Rhodesians have a saying that Rhodesia never dies. They lost the war to Zanla and Zipra forces in the battlefield and they now want to fight that war through the MDC-T.

"The whole talk about security sector reform is way by these Rhodesians to try and win this war through the inclusive Government using MDC-T," he said.

Maj Gen Chedondo said the Rhodesians were working with the MDC-T in a bid to effect illegal regime change in Zimbabwe.

To aid their position, Maj Gen Chedondo said, Rhodesians working together with MDC-T have called for the imposition of illegal economic sanctions on Zimbabwe.

He said contrary to the Western rhetoric that sanctions were targeted at certain individuals, the embargo was affecting every Zimbabwean.

"Since the formation of the MDC which brought together all Rhodesians, we were slapped with sanctions because we have reclaimed our land.

"Sanctions were not imposed against President Mugabe alone but all Zimbabweans.

"Women in hospitals have suffered miscarriages because there is inadequate machinery in hospitals to assist them. Children have also died because of sanctions and how then can you call that targeted sanctions," he said.

Maj Gen Chedondo said sanctions were a declaration of war on innocent people.

He said all Zimbabweans should unite to fight the embargo.

Maj Gen Chedondo said the ZDF would not be deterred by Western machinations from its mandate of protecting the country's independence and territorial integrity.

"We will defend the revolution through our blood and our enemies can say whatever they want but that will not change anything," he said.

Maj Gen Chedondo hailed the Presidential Guard for maintaining a high level of discipline in execution of its duties.

He described the Presidential Guard as the face of the ZDF and it should strive to maintain the force's integrity.

The 28th Anniversary of the Presidential Guard started with inspection of parade by Maj Gen Chedondo.

Maj Gen Chedondo also unveiled the roll of honour with names of all deceased soldiers who once served in the Presidential Guard Brigade before he presented awards to the most disciplined soldier, smart soldier, best shootist and best sports person.

Maj Gen Chedondo also presented an award to 2 Presidential Guard Battalion for the best-maintained camp.

The 28th anniversary of the Presidential Guard was also attended by traditional chiefs and retired army commanders.
