Strayed Minutes of a grouping in Gwanda purporting to be meeting as Dynamos Football Club supporters have revealed that parents of Shona speaking children at St Christopher's Primary School in Gwanda will be making submissions to the school demanding to have Shona taught at the school.

A copy of the draft minutes of a meeting held on the 8th of May 2016 at one of the members' house in the town show that the meeting resolved to approach certain unnamed influences within the school's set up to push the agenda of Shona being taught at the school after a petition is signed and delivered to the school and education officials in the district.

A source claiming to have been employed as a casual maid at a house of one of the people who attended the meeting provided Bulawayo24.com with hand written notes of the meeting discussing the issue.

The source claims to have bumped on the minutes in her routine weekend clean up of the house over the last weekend.

The notes appear to be quoting Education Minister Lazarus Dokora as having said that children have a right to be taught in their mother language. The notes further claim that half of the children at the school are Shona speaking at home and can make up full classes for Shona lessons.

According to the notes but without mentioning names, the school is said to already have members of staff who are qualified to teach Shona and will "not be an extra demand to government."

The resolution of the meeting appears to have been that the members should start selling the idea to other Shona speaking parents with children at the school before a petition is done and presented to the District Education Officer and the School head. According to the minutes unnamed influential persons within the school will then be approached to push the idea through the SDC.

In a separate note, the minutes further down state that fellow Shona speaking people should be encouraged to occupy all spaces provided in the community like councillors, SDC committees and all developmental committees in the town for their agendas to make it through in the town.

The source who only allowed the reporter to read through the minutes refused to have a copy of the minutes retained by Bulawayo24.com for reference.
